Installing on a Mac

Open the .dmg and drag Ultimate Gig into your Applications folder. It's signed and notarized by Apple, so the first time you open it macOS just asks you to confirm opening an app downloaded from the internet. It needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 12 or newer.

What's new in 1.5.0

  • Ultimate Gig is on the Mac. The download is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other app. It needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 12 or newer.
  • Background images and AI-generated songs are now kept with the rest of your library. Updating on Windows? If you've uploaded backgrounds or made AI songs, export a backup first (Settings → Backup & Restore, with Uploaded files ticked) — earlier versions kept those files in the install folder, which the update can clear.
  • Fit the whole song on one screen. A new toggle in the song view sets a chord chart as large as it can go with the entire song visible: chords stay with their words so long lines can wrap, and the chart flows into columns. Nothing to scroll mid-verse, and each device remembers it per song.
  • All Songs only deletes songs that exist nowhere but the app: AI mashups and tabs you uploaded. A song from Ultimate Guitar would come straight back on the next import, without its gig history.
  • All Songs shows each song's tab cache status and a Cache tab button, the same as your playlists.
